A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in length overall blazoned as follows: Per pile reversed Azure and Argent (Silver Gray), an arrowhead Sable bearing in chief a mullet of the second, overall on a fess bretessed Vert, a lightning bolt and a key, wards to dexter base and upward, in saltire of the second. Attached below a Blue scroll inscribed "RELY ON ME" in Silver.
Blue refers to loyalty alluding to the unit's motto "Rely on Me." The arrowhead upon the pile denotes military fortitude, representing the Special Troops Battalion's creation in the American West. The star suggests the forming of the unit in Texas. The fess bretessed illustrates tank tracks, indicating the organization's affiliation to the 1st Armored Division. The following symbols signify the unified elements that make up the Battalion the lightning bolt is for the signal capabilities and the key pertains to the military intelligence functions.
