A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, a demi-griffin segreant Sable grasping in dexter talons a lightning bolt and sword saltirewise Gules; a chief quarterly of the second and Argent. Attached below is a Black scroll inscribed "STRONG AND TRUE" in Gold letters.

The black and white of the four rectangles symbolize night and day, around the clock combat readiness; plus the number 4 reflects the name of the unit's Brigade and Division. Gold is emblematic of excellence and high achievement. Red denotes courage and action. The griffin a heraldic beast of strength and vigilance, is holding the lightning flash for swift deployment, communications and intelligence responsibilities. The sword is for all the combat support missions the unit provides to enable the 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division to accomplish assigned objectives.

The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division on 3 February 2005. It was amended to correct the unit designation to Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division on 14 August 2007. Coat of Arms

From a wreath Or and Sable, issuing from a wreath of palm Vert, a stylized Middle Eastern portal of the second, displayed per fess dancetty of two points Argent and Buff, between two mullets in chief Gules and Azure a scimitar point down of the second.
