On a Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in width overall, Quarterly, Argent and Azure in the first and fourth a lightning flash bendwise Tenné, in the second and third a sunburst issuant from fess point throughout, a chief embattled Gules, bearing a dagger fesswise Proper, detailed of the last. Arched beneath the shield a Teal scroll inscribed "BY COURAGE AND ARMS" in Silver metal letters.
The overall shape of the device is a castle tower and along with the color red represents the Engineer castle and the role the Engineer branch contributes to the unit. The lightning bolt symbolizes speed in communication, representing the role of the Signal Corps. The sun, a classic symbol for enlightenment, here is quartered to imply the circulation of Military Intelligence. The color teal represents the newly formed Special Troops Battalion. All the elements are surrounded by a silver border symbolic of the cohesion and coordination necessary to execute the mission. The dagger displayed in chief represents the prominent combination of military readiness and the ability of the entire unit and reflects their motto: "By Courage and Arms."
