A silver triangular-shaped color metal and blue enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in diameter overall consisting of a two dark blue chevrons surmounted by a vertical bayonet, black handgrip, silver cross-guard and blade, point down, with a silver star on the blade, between two silver lightning flashes rising from base in a V-shape. Attached below, a tripartite black motto scroll inscribed "FIRST IN" in silver letters.
The chevron, divided into two parts, symbolizes support, provided by the 2d Brigade Combat Team; it also denotes the unit's numerical designation, "2". The bayonet suggests the combat and security mission. The lightning flashes signify the team's mission to provide communication and intelligence. The star refers to the current location of the 2nd Brigade, Texas, the Lone Star State. It also alludes to the team's deployment and mobile capabilities, wherever needed, to accomplish its assigned objectives.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 6 January 2005. The insignia was amended to correct the description and symbolism on 1 December 2005. Coat of Arms
