On a Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall, blazoned: Parted per pall Celeste, Tenné and Sanguine, a fillet pall Or, overall a volcano issuant from base Sable, flanks edged and fumant in chief of the fourth, surmounted throughout by a lightning bolt palewise Gules, fimbriated Gold. Arched beneath the shield a Black scroll inscribed "STRIKE WITH HONOR" in Gold metal letters.

The triparted shield combines the colors blue, associated with Infantry units and represents the capability to secure and protect; orange, representing communication capabilities to command and control combat forces; and Sanguine, representing logistical functions that support and sustain the mission. The erupting volcano combined with the lightning flash alludes to the State of Hawaii, where the unit is based, and these symbols link the Special Troops Battalion to its parent organization, the 25th Infantry Division.

From a wreath Or and Celeste, a rising sun with ten rays thereon three palm fronds, two in saltire and one palewise Vert, surmounted by an Eastern dragon Tenné, garnished Or, scaled and finned Gules, armed of the last. STRIKE WITH HONOR.

The rising sun with ten rays signifies the ten decorations the unit has been awarded, including a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation and two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations. The three palm leaves symbolize the three major conflicts in which the unit participated (World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam). The Eastern style dragon represents the Pacific Rim where these engagements occurred.

The coat of arms was approved on 12 January 2006. It was amended to change the symbolism on 8 February 2006.
