What Happened
Sergeant Walter Grider was accidentally shot and killed by a citizen who was assisting him in searching yards for a burglary suspect. Sergeant Grider had also served with the United States Military during World War I. He is buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
