Stephen Gerard Gilner

Officer Gilner and Sergeant Steven Reeves were shot and killed during a failed SWAT raid. The suspect who had shot and wounded another officer earlier in the day, was holding his mother hostage. After approximately 4 hours of negotiations, the SWAT members entered the residence. During the entry, the fourth man Officer Reeves was fatally wounded. Officer Gilner was the fifth man to enter the residence, he pulled Officer Reeves out of the line of fire. Officer Gilner was shot and killed as he pulled Officer Reeves to safety. Both Officers died as a result of their injuries from the assault bullets which penetrated their vest.
