What Happened
Patrolman Sparks was killed in a motorcycle accident while in pursuit of a speeding motorist in the 2100 block of Ridge Road. He lost control of the motorcycle while rounding a curve. He was taken to Rex Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries just after midnight. Officer Sparks was a U.S Air Force veteran of Vietnam war and had served with the Raleigh Police Department for 15 months.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife.
