What Happened
Officer Raymond Harvik succumbed to injuries he suffered in an automobile crash on April 12, 1998. Officer Harvik had just finished assisting paramedics with a medical emergency and was following an ambulance when he lost control of his patrol vehicle, a Chevy Blazer, as he entered a sharp curve in the road. A passenger in the vehicle was also injured. Officer Harvick was transported to the Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Officer Harvik was a United States Army veteran who served with the Mart Police Department for only two months and previously served with the Dallas School District Police and the Roanoke Police Department.
Survivors
He was survived by his father, stepmother, brother, sister, and grandparents.
