What Happened
Trooper Michael T. Angelos was killed in an automobile accident. Nearing the end of his eight-hour shift, Trooper Angelos was pursuing a speeding car on Roosevelt Road near Elmhurst. Trooper Angelos pulled into the left lane to pass an eastbound vehicle. He was sideswiped by a westbound car and was knocked into the vehicle he was attempting to pass. Trooper Angelos was transported to Elmhurst Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries one hour later. The drivers of the other vehicles suffered injuries, but survived. Trooper Angelos was a U.S Navy veteran of WWII and had served with the Illinois State Police for four years and was assigned to District 2, Elgin. His wife and two children survive.
