What Happened
Sheriff Mike Bergan was killed in an automobile crash on Fort Logan Road at 7:00 p.m. He was returning from an investigation of a reported dog poisoning. On the snow-covered road, he hit a bump, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and crash into a ditch. Sheriff Bergan was a United States Army WWI veteran who had served with the Meagher County Sheriff's Department for 23 years and as sheriff for 21 of those years.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife and six children.
