General Lyman L Lemnitzer served the United States Army for 49 years. Lyman served in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Cold War. Lyman was 89 years old.
What Happened
West Point 1920. He went ashore in North Africa from a British submarine weeks before the Torch landings to meet French officers in secret. Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Chief of Staff of the Army, and the fourth Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1960 to 1962.
