What Happened
Patrolman Louis Metaxas died after falling from a roof during a search for a burglary suspect at 55 Old Colony Avenue. A citizen who was also looking for the suspect had taken his German Shepherd to the roof while Patrolman Metaxas was there. The dog attempted to attack Patrolman Metaxas, knocking him from the roof. Patrolman Metaxas was a United States Army Vietnam veteran and had served with the Boston Police Department for nine years.
