Leonard Burton Turner

Deputy Turner responded to a disturbance call at a local dance hall. He arrested a suspect for public intoxication. The suspect resisted arrest and a struggle ensued. At one point, Deputy Turner had to use mace on the suspect. While transporting the prisoner to jail, the suspect tried to kick out the rear window of the patrol vehicle. Deputy Turner pulled the car over and called for backup. He was found slumped over the steering wheel. He had suffered a fatal heart attack and was pronounced dead at the scene. The prisoner was still in the back seat.
