What Happened
Trooper Joseph Perry was killed in a motorcycle crash on Centerton Road near Lawrence Corner Road. Another vehicle pulled out of a driveway in front of him as he traveled southbound. Trooper Perry was unable to avoid the collision and suffered a severe leg injury. He was transported to a local hospital by witnesses to the crash. He died from his injuries two days later. The driver who caused the crash was convicted of reckless driving and fined $2.00. Trooper Perry was a U.S. Army veteran and was the recipient of both the Silver Star and Purple Heart service medals.
Survivors
He had served with the New Jersey State Police for almost eight years and is survived by his wife and daughter.
