Biography
Sergeant First Class, United States Army. Born at Fajardo in Puerto Rico and raised at Rio Piedras, he finished at Gabriel A. Mistral High School in 1978 and took a degree in accounting at the InterAmerican University in San Juan.

He enlisted on the eighth of July 1982 at Fort Buchanan, did basic training at Fort Leonard Wood and his advanced training at Fort Jackson. Over nineteen years he went from supply clerk to senior logistics noncommissioned officer, serving at Fort Stewart, twice in Germany, at Fort Eustis, in Korea, at Fort Campbell, and at last at the Pentagon.

He met and married Gloria Garcia during his second tour in Germany, and was deployed to the Gulf for Desert Storm shortly afterwards.

He was forty-four.

His wife Gloria, his children Vanessa and Jose junior, his parents Saturnino Calderon and Petra Olmedo, his sister Elizabeth and his nephew Joshua.
