What Happened
Police Officer George Lloyd succumbed to injuries sustained three weeks earlier when he fell from the running board of a vehicle near the intersection of Pratt Street and Roosevelt Boulevard.

Officer Lloyd had been summoned by a local doctor who was in his vehicle and needed to get to a local hospital to see a patient. While using his whistle to get the vehicle through traffic he lost his balance and fell to the street after the vehicle struck a rut in the roadway. He was taken to the Frankford Hospital where he succumbed to his head injury.

Police Officer Lloyd was a U.S Navy veteran of WWI and served with the Philadelphia Police Department for 16 years.
