What Happened
Deputy Bob Davis was shot and killed while he and another deputy were investigating a homicide on the Round Valley Indian Reservation in Covelo, California. During the investigation, they encountered one of the armed suspects and shot and killed him. As they were searching the area, another suspect shot and killed Deputy Davis. The subject eluded the police for four months until he turned himself into authorities. After a long trial, he was acquitted. Deputy Davis was a United States Navy Seal veteran and served with the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office for seven years.

He was survived by his wife, three sons, and a daughter.
