What Happened
Trooper Garland Miller was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Route 168 (modern-day I-64) in York County, three miles west of Williamsburg. The patrol car he was in skidded off of the roadway and struck a group of trees. He was training a newly hired trooper at the time of the crash. Trooper Miller was a United States Army Military Police veteran and had served with the Virginia State Police for seven years.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife, daughter, son, and parents.
