What Happened
Lost with the crew of Zeus 95 when their KC-135 Stratotanker went down over friendly airspace in western Iraq on 12 March 2026, during Operation EPIC FURY. A second tanker was involved in the incident and landed safely. Central Command states the loss was not the result of hostile or friendly fire.
Biography
Curtis Angst was a native of Wilmington, Ohio, with ten years' service as a KC-135 pilot of the 166th Air Refueling Squadron. He deployed in 2015 and 2026, on Operations SPARTAN SHIELD and EPIC FURY, and flew 880 hours, 67 of them in combat. His family said of him that those who knew Curtis remember his steady kindness and the joy he carried with him everywhere he went.
