What Happened
Lieutenant Charles Johnson succumbed to injuries he received in a fall at the police station at 318 W. 1st Street in Los Angeles. While boxing in the assembly room around 7:00 a.m., he slipped on a spot of wet flooring, hitting his head on the concrete. He was transported to the California Hospital, where he passed away later that night. Lieutenant Johnson was a United States Army Spanish-American War veteran and had served with the Los Angeles Police Department for 13 years.
