What Happened
Police Officer Arthur O. Jackson and his partner were involved in a vehicle pursuit of a stolen auto and a subsequent foot pursuit near 1950 South Avers Avenue. The offender was apprehended by other district officers. Officer Jackson collapsed after driving another officer back to a patrol car. Officer Jackson was a U.S. Navy veteran and had served with the Chicago Police Department for 33 years. He is survived by three sons and his sister. He was predeceased by a fourth son who was killed while serving in the Vietnam War.
