The suspect was arrested a short time later and charged with involuntary manslaughter and numerous traffic violations. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter on May 3, 1993, and sentenced to eight years in prison. He was paroled on November 1, 1995. He was sent back to prison on April 29, 2002, for a habitual felon conviction. He was paroled on April 28, 2007.
