What Happened
Captain Albert Teeters was accidentally shot and killed by a police lieutenant in the shooting range in the basement of the Frankstown Avenue police station.
The lieutenant's revolver had misfired during target practice. As he worked to clear the round Captain Teeters walked towards the target to view the previous shots. The revolver suddenly fired and the round struck Captain Teeters, fatally wounding him.
Captain Teeters was a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard and had served with the Pittsburgh Police Department for 29 years.
