Maitiahu "Matao" Pitchon
Turai Maitiahu Pitchon served in the Israel Defense Forces. Maitiahu served with the Infantry. Maitiahu served in the War of Independence.
בן לונה ויוסי, נולד בשנת 1926 בעיר הנמל סלוניקי, יוון. למד בבית-ספר יהודי יסודי ואחרי שסיים בו את לימודיו החל לעבוד כפועל. אחרי השתלטות הנאצים על יוון נלקח למחנות-הסגר. הוא התענה במחנות-ההשמדה אושוויץ ודאכאו ושרד בחיים. עם השחרור עבר למחנה-העקורים בלנדסברג, שם הצטרף לבית"ר ולאצ"ל ונשלח מטעם תנועתו לצרפת. משם הפליג לארץ באונייה "בן הכט", נעצר ל13- חודשים במחנה בקפריסין והגיע לארץ ב-20.4.1948. הוא החל לעבוד בתעשיית הכפתורים. מתתיהו הצטרף ללוחמי האצ"ל, עבר איתם לגיזרת רמלה, ושם נפל ביום כ"ד באייר תש"ח (2.6.1948), אחרי שהספיק לחיות בארץ שישה שבועות בלבד. הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
