What Happened

בן ישעיהו יצחק. נולד בשנת תרע"ג (1913) בגאליציה שבפולין. למד וסיים לימודי רפואה ובמקביל התמסר לפעילות ציונית. בעיצומה של מלחמת העולם השניה, בנובמבר 1940, עלה לארץ-ישראל כמעפיל, ועבד כרופא בקיבוץ מעלה החמישה. הוא התערה יפה בקיבוץ והתחבב על חבריו בגלל מזגו הטוב. בשנת 1942 התגייס לצבא הבריטי והוצב לחיל הרפואה. לאחר ששירת כשנה בצבא נהרג ביום כ"ה בתשרי התש"ד (24.10.1943), בקרב בים האגאי. שמו הונצח על לוח הזכרון בבית הרופא בתל-אביב, ב"ספר ההתנדבות", בספר "יזכור" של מכון ז'בוטינסקי וב"ספר השנה של העתונאים" תש"ו. עוד על שירותו בצבא הבריטי: מאיר דוד בקר (Beker David Meier), מספר אישי PAL/274412, התגייס לצבא הבריטי בשנת 1942. הוצב בחיל הרפואה המלכותי הבריטי (R.A.S.C. - Royal Army Service Corps) ביחידה General Hospital. דרגתו בצבא הבריטי סר"ן - ד"ר (Lt. - Lieutenant). מקום קבורתו לא נודע. הונצח ב- ATHENS MEMORIAL, יוון, בציון Face 9.
