What Happened

בן אדולף. נולד בשנת תרס"ג (1903) בפולין. בשנת 1935 עלה לארץ-ישראל והתגורר בחדרה. במלחמת העולם השניה התגייס לצבא הבריטי והוצב לחיל התובלה. הוא יצא עם קבוצה של כמה עשרות נהגים ארצישראלים במסגרת חיל משלוח שנשלח ליוון, על מנת לסייע ליוונים במלחמתם נגד האיטלקים. שם צורף לפלוגת הובלה 232. יעקב נפל בשבי וביום י"ט בחשון תש"ג (30.10.1942) נהרג בשעת נסיון בריחה מהשבי. מקום קבורתו לא נודע. שמו הונצח ב"ספר העתונאים", ב"ספר ההתנדבות" ובספר "יזכור" של מכון ז'בוטינסקי. עוד על שירותו בצבא הבריטי: יעקב וייסברג (Waisberg Jacob), מספר אישי בריטי PAL/890, התגייס לצבא הבריטי בשנת 1940. הוצב בחיל השירותים המלכותי הבריטי (R.A.S.C. - Royal Army Service Corps) ביחידה 68 R&T Coy. מקצועו הצבאי - נהג. בהמשך הועבר ליחידה 603 Pioneer Coy. דרגתו בצבא הבריטי טוראי ראשון (L/Cpl. - Lance Corporal). מקום קבורתו לא נודע. הונצח ב- ATHENS MEMORIAL, יוון, בציון Face 9.
