Turai Yaakov Friedman served in the Israel Defense Forces. Yaakov served with the Armored Corps. Yaakov served in the War of Independence.
בן רלה ומרדכי, נולד בשנת 1926 בעיר שופרון, הונגריה. בשנת 1946, בהיותו בן 20, עלה לארץ, שריד יחיד ממשפחתו הענפה, שהושמדה במחנות-הריכוז. היה חייט במקצועו. השתקע בירושלים והצטרף ל"הגנה". יעקב לא מצא עבודה במקצועו ולא היה לו קרוב בארץ. בפרוץ מלחמת-העצמאות הצטרף ללוחמים בחטיבת ירושלים, היה בין המלווים שיירה לעטרות ביום י"ג באדר ב' תש"ח (24.3.1948) ונפל בקרב עם המון ערבי שתקף את השיירה ליד שועפט. נקבר בסנהדריה בירושלים. ביום כ"ה באלול תשי"א (26.9.1951) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים.
