Turai Shalom Overlend served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shalom served with the Settlement Volunteers to the British Army. Shalom served in the War of Independence. Shalom was 34 years old.

What Happened

בן פאני ואמיל, נולד ביום כ"ט בניסן תרע"ד (25.4.1914), בפרנקפורט על נהר מיין שבגרמניה. בעירו השלים לימודיו בבית- ספר תיכוני ועבד במסגרות. בשנת 1936 עלה ארצה והצטרף לקיבוץ. משבאו הוריו לארץ ב-1938 פרש מהקיבוץ ועזר להם בייסוד משק ברמתיים. לאחר כמה שנים נשא אישה, עבר לגור בכפר שמריהו ועבד כמסגר. כל שנותיו בארץ היה חבר ב"הגנה". במלחמת-העצמאות סיים קורס עזרה ראשונה ומילא את חובתו כחובש בשירות הרפואי. שירת בחטיבת "אלכסנדרוני". ביום ו' בטבת תש"ט (7.1.1949) נפל ליד רמת הכובש. ביום ז' בתמוז תש"י (22.6.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
