Turai Shalom Melamed served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shalom served with the Armored Corps. Shalom served in the War of Independence.

What Happened

בן ימימה ונתן, נולד בשנת 1927 בתימן. בשנת 1943 עלה לארץ והתגורר בשכונת שעריים שליד רחובות. הוא הקים משפחה ואת פרנסתו מצא בעבודתו כעגלון. בפברואר 1948 התגייס, שירת בחטיבת "גבעתי" והשתתף בפעולת "נחשון". היה בין מלווי שיירות בסביבות רחובות ולקח חלק פעיל בפעולות הטרדה בוואדי סראר. בעת מבצע "נחשון" לפריצת הדרך לירושלים היה בין מגיני דיר- מוחסין ושם נפל ביום כ"ז באדר ב' תש"ח (6.4.1948). נקבר בחולדה. הניח אישה, שולמית, ושני ילדים. ביום ח' בחשוון תשי"א (19.10.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
