What Happened

בן עליה וכליפה, נולד בשנת 1929 בעיר סאליי שבמרוקו ולמד בבית-ספר כללי. עבד כחייט. מנעוריו שאף לעלות לארץ-ישראל ולכן התארגן בקבוצה "מזרחה" של נוער ציוני. כשנוכח לדעת שאין כל סיכוי לעלייה בדרך חוקית, החליט לברוח ממרוקו ולהעפיל ארצה. באחד מערבי יוני 1947, כשחזר מעבודתו הביתה, הודיע לאמו שהוא הולך לקולנוע, ובלי לקחת איתו דבר יצא את הבית, עבר בסכנות את הגבול בין מרוקו לאלג'יר, ומשם מצא את הדרך להעפלה. הוא עלה על אחת מאוניות המעפילים ולמרות שהאונייה נתפשה על-ידי הבריטים היה מאושר כשהוגלה לקפריסין, שכן ראה בקפריסין את התחנה האחרונה לפני ארץ- ישראל. הוא ניסה גם לקצר את שהותו שם ונתפס בניסיון לברוח, אך לבסוף זכה לעזוב את המחנה לפני הגיע תורו. בארץ הצטרף לקיבוץ רגבים. התבלט כפעיל ביותר בין כל חבריו לעלייה וקנה לו הרבה ידידים. התחבב על כל יודעיו. בראשית מלחמת-העצמאות התגייס לפלמ"ח ונשלח לחזית ירושלים. נפל בקרית ענבים ביום ג' בסיוון תש"ח (10.6.1948). נקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. ביום כ"ח באלול תש"י (10.9.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
