What Happened

בן רחל וישראל, נולד ביום ה' באלול תרצ"ד (16.8.1934) בתימן. בעודו רך בשנים מתו עליו הוריו. הנער היתום הועלה לארץ בשנת 1936 וחונך בבית-הנוער העירוני בתל-אביב. משבגר יצא לעבוד. בנימין גר בבית קרובים בשכונת התקווה ועבד בעשיית ארנקי- נשים. שמחת-נעורים לא ידע מעודו. היה מסתפק במועט וצמחוני אדוק. עם זאת גדל לעלם גבה-קומה וחסון. פניו גילו שמץ-מה מהסבל הרב שסבל בימי חייו הקצרים. את להט נעוריו הקדיש למולדת. לשם-כך הצטרף למחתרת האצ"ל והכניס "תיקון" בתעודותיו כדי להתקבל לשירות קרבי על אף גילו הרך. כאשר מפקדיו סירבו לשתפו בפעולות-קרב היה פורץ בבכי ואילצם על-יד כך להיענות לו. בתקופת מלחמת-העצמאות השתתף בכיבוש יפו, יהודיה ורמלה, ונפל בכיבוש מלחה ביום ז' בתמוז תש"ח (14.7.1948). בן 16 היה בנופלו. נקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. ביום כ"ח באלול תש"י (10.9.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
