Turai Yosef Baranes served in the Israel Defense Forces. Yosef served with the Education Corps. Yosef served in the First Intifada and the South Lebanon Security Zone. Yosef was 18 years old.
בן מרים ואליהו. נולד ביום כ"ב באב תשל"א (13.8.1971) בראשון לציון. בגיל צעיר התייתם מהוריו. הוא למד בבית-ספר יסודי בראשון לציון ואת המשך דרכו החינוכית עשה בפנימיית 'נווה הדרים' בחבצלת השרון. בחור נחמד, יצר קשרים בקלות, פתוח ושמח היה למרות קשייו. בשלהי מרס 1990 גויס יוסף לשירות חובה בצה"ל. הוא החל את שירותו במסגרת פרוייקט 'נערי רפול' בחוות השומר, בה עבר את מסלול הטירונות. ביום ל' בניסן תש"ן (24.4.1990) נפל יוסף בעת שירותו והובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-העלמין הצבאי בראשון לציון. הותיר אחריו שתי אחיות - שמחה ואילנה, ואח - חיים. בן תשע-עשרה היה במותו. במכתב התנחומים למשפחה השכולה, כתב מפקד היחידה, בין השאר: "יוסי התגייס עם הרבה רצון, תוך כדי התגברות על מכשולים שהיו לו לרועץ בניסיונותיו הקודמים להתגייס. הוא השתדל מאוד לבצע את אשר נדרש לבצע במסגרת הטירונות. יוסי מצא לעצמו חברים חדשים בצבא, נוסף לחבריו הרבים בביתו בראשון לציון".
