Samal Shimon-Albert Leizerovitch served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shimon-Albert served with the Infantry. Shimon-Albert served in the War of Independence. Shimon-Albert was 23 years old.

What Happened

בן לאה ויצחק-אליעזר, נולד ביום ד' בכסלו תרפ"ה (1.12.1924) בפריס, בירת צרפת. בהיותו בן שלוש נתייתם מהוריו. בשנת 1928 עלה לארץ עם דודתו וגדל בתל-אביב. שמעון למד בבית-הספר היסודי "תחכמוני", ומשם עבר לגימנסיה "הרצליה". בהיותו בן ארבע-עשרה הצטרף לבית"ר. כעבור שנה ומחצה החל בפעולות הדרכה וחינוך ועם התבגרותו הצטרף למחתרת אצ"ל. בשנת 1943 סיים את לימודיו בהצטיינות. גם כאשר החל למצוא את פרנסתו בעבודה, לא חדל מללמוד ובערבים השתלם בהתכתבות. באביב 1947 עמד לנסוע לארצות-הברית כדי להשתלם בלימודים. במיוחד התעניין בהנדסה תעופתית, בה רכש לו כבר אז ידיעות נרחבות. ימים אחדים לפני קבלת תעודותיו נאסר ונשלח ללטרון. גם בתנאי המאסר הוסיף ללמוד. לאחר שהשתחרר מלטרון קיבל תפקיד אחראי בהדרכה. "סמל א' ג'ד", כפי שנקרא במחתרת, היה אחראי ומסור בכל פעולותיו. "אינני שש אלי קרב", היה אומר, אך בבוא הקרב היה שש לקראתו. בשעת התקפת האצ"ל על יפו, ביקש ממפקד היחידה שהשתתפה בהתקפה להצטרף ליחידתו. שעות מספר לאחר זה נפגע ונהרג בהסתער האויב על העמדות במנשיה. נפל ביום י"ח בניסן תש"ח (27.4.1948). הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
