Samal Pinhas Altshuler served in the Israel Defense Forces. Pinhas served with the Armored Corps. Pinhas served in the South Lebanon Security Zone. Pinhas was 21 years old.
בן יונה וחיים, נולד ביום י"ט בטבת תשכ"ג (15.1.1963) בירושלים. הוא למד בבית-הספר היסודי על-שם אלי כהן, והשלים את לימודיו התיכוניים בבית-הספר "אורט", במגמת מכניקה. במאי 1982 התגייס פנחס לצה"ל ונקבע לו פרופיל רפואי נמוך. הוא עבר קורס פקידות-מחסנאות ושימש מחסנאי בימ"ח אוגדתי. על עבודתו כתב מפקד יחידתו: "הוא חייל מסור, חרוץ ואחראי, שאינו חוסך כל מאמץ לעשות עבודתו בנאמנות". בנובמבר 1983 הוא הועלה לדרגת רב"ט, חודשים אחדים לאחר-מכן הועלה לדרגת סמל, בהמלצת מפקדו, שכתב עליו: "הוא מגלה יוזמה בכל תפקידיו, ממושמע מאוד, יעיל". ביום י"ג בחשוון תשמ"ה (8.11.1984) נפל פנחס בעת שירותו. בן 21 היה במותו. הוא השאיר אחריו הורים, ארבעה אחים ושתי אחיות. פנחס הובא למנוחות בבית-הקברות הצבאי על הר הרצל בירושלים. מפקד יחידתו כתב עליו למשפחתו: "כולנו, מפקדיו וחייליו כאחד, מזועזעים ממותו". זכרו הונצח בבית-הכנסת במזרח תלפיות בירושלים, שבו נהגה משפחתו להתפלל.
