Turai Aharon Basus served in the Israel Defense Forces. Aharon served with the Armored Corps. Aharon served in the War of Independence.

What Happened

בן שמחה ויחזקאל, נולד בשנת 1916 בקהיר, בירת מצרים. אהרן רכש לעצמו השכלה עממית, התמחה במכונאות, עבד במסחר, וכל ימיו שאף לארץ. בשנת 1942 התגייס במצרים לצבא הבריטי על-מנת שישוחרר בארץ-ישראל. הוא שירת חמש שנים, אך בבוא מועד שחרורו רצו לשחררו במצרים. אהרן נאבק בתוקף על ההבטחה שניתנה לו, ואפילו לא נפרד מעל אמו שנשארה במצרים כדי שלא להקל על הממונים עליו לחזור בהם מההתחייבות. לבסוף שוחרר מהצבא הבריטי בארץ בשנת 1947 והתיישב בירושלים. עוד לפני פרסום צו הגיוס שמר במשך כמה שבועות על הר-הצופים, לחם נגד הבריטים במחנה אלנבי ובמעלה החמישה ועסק בהעברת נשק של ה"הגנה" מתל-אביב לירושלים. בחודש ספטמבר 1948 התגייס לצבא הגנה לישראל וצורף לגדוד קרבי בחטיבת ירושלים. הוא לחם בהר-ציון, ובדיר-אבו-טור, ושם נפל מיריות צלפים ביום י"ז בתשרי תש"ט (20.10.1948). נקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. הניח אישה, מרים. ביום י"ז באלול תש"י (30.8.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
