What Happened

בן בריינדיל ושמואל, נולד ביום כ"ב באייר תרפ"ב (20.5.1922) בעיר סאנוק, גליציה, פולין, למשפחת בעלי-אחוזה בכפר. בימי מלחמת-העולם השנייה ניצלו הוא ואחיו, שרידים יחידים מכל בני המשפחה, ונמלטו לרוסיה. שם הצטרפו לצבאו הפולני של הגנרל אנדרס, ועימו הגיעו ב-10.11.1942 לארץ. עם בואו "עזב" את הצבא הפולני ונתקבל עם אחיו לקבוצת מעלה החמישה, שם עבד כעגלון, מתוך שידע לטפל בבהמות-עבודה עוד מימי ילדותו באחוזת אביו. לאחר זמן-מה עבר עם אחיו לנתניה, שם עבד בבניין. עסק גם בספורט, בשחיה ובכדורגל. נשא אישה והתיישב בפתח תקווה. בתחילת מלחמת-העצמאות היה חבר "משמר העם", ואחר-כך גויס לצבא, שירת בחטיבת "אלכסנדרוני" והשתתף בקרבות. ימים אחדים לפני נפילתו בא הביתה לחופשה קצרה וחלה, אולם חזר לפני החלימו על אף הפצרות משפחתו, בטענו שלא ירשה לאחרים להילחם ולהסתכן למענו. השתתף במבצע "דני", ונפל בכיבוש מגדל צדק ביום ה' בתמוז תש"ח (12.7.1948). הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בפתח תקווה.
