Samal David Ben Hamo served in the Israel Defense Forces. David served with the Paratroopers Brigade. David served in the Yom Kippur War. David was 19 years old.

What Happened

דוד, בן שרה ושמעון, נולד ביום ט' בכסלו תשי"ד (16.11.1953), בקזבלנקה שבמרוקו ועלה לארץ עם משפחתו בתחילת יוני 1955. הוא למד בבית-הספר היסודי הממלכתי-דתי בשדרות ובישיבה המקצועית "תורה ומלאכה" בנתיבות. דוד היה תלמיד חרוץ, חובב שירה ומוסיקה ונהג לעבור לפני התיבה בבית-הכנסת. הוא היה חבר בתנועת "בני עקיבא" בשדרות והדריך את הנוער המקומי. גם בעת לימודיו בישיבה המקצועית, היה מדריך את החניכים הצעירים. כן הצטיין במקצועות ספורט שונים. בישיבה המקצועית סיים את לימודיו במקצוע המסגרות. דוד גויס לצה"ל בסוף יולי 1972 והתנדב לחיל הצנחנים. הוא שירת בנח"ל וביחידות צנחנים כחובש קרבי. במלחמת יום-הכיפורים פעל דוד כחובש קרבי ביחידת צנחנים וטיפל בפצועי צה"ל ובפצועי האויב גם יחד. ביום כ"ט בתשרי תשל"ד (25.10.1973), נפגע ונהרג בקרב שהתחולל מדרום לאגם המר והובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-העלמין בהר-הרצל. השאיר אחריו הורים ועשרה אחים ואחיות. לאחר נופלו הועלה לדרגת סמל. הוריו תרמו לזכרו ספר תורה לבית-הכנסת בשדרות.
