Captain Woodrow Wilson Anderson served in the U.S. Army Air Forces. Woodrow served in World War II. Woodrow was 27 years old.
Capt Anderson engaged several enemy fighters near Dessau. His plane was hit by the enemy aircraft and was seen to smoke and fall into a steep dive. It was believed that he fell free of the plane, but no parachute was seen. | | After the war, investigations were conducted in the area to find the remains of Capt Anderson, without any result. | | German records mention three P-51s crashing in the area of Zerbst Airfield (see the record of 1st Lt Clarence R. Barger - O2045165). It is very unlikely that one of the other pilots was Capt Anderson, since he crashed more than 100 miles to the west. | | During his service, he was credited with nine German planes destroyed on the ground and two in the air, and another damaged. He also destroyed three enemy locomotives and damaged two others, besides blasting railroad cars and a railroad depot.
