Lieutenant Commander Charles A. Droz III served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years and 8 months. Charles served with the United States Navy. Charles served during the years of the Vietnam War, Gulf War and the Global War on Terrorism. Charles was 52 years old.

Biography
Lieutenant Commander, United States Navy, retired, and an engineer. Known as Chuck.

He spent twenty years in the Navy working on high-capacity signal processors, multi-processor application software and signal processing algorithms, and twenty years afterwards developing products for distributed computing - systems engineering consulting, web-based systems built across distant sites, and an ARPA project demonstrating rapid object-oriented development.

He took a degree in chemical engineering at Grove City College and a master's in electrical engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School.

He was aboard American Airlines flight 77.
Survivors
His wife Cindy, his daughter Shannon, and his mother Suzanne.
