Matthew David Thorn served as a police officer with the Cahokia Police Department in Cahokia, Illinois. A United States Marine Corps veteran, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Cahokia/Dupo Lodge 216, and of Winstanley Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Survived by his wife, Amy Nicole Thorn; daughter, Kenedi Nicole Thorn; son, Jackson David Thorn; parents, David Lee and Carol (Williams) Thorn of Fairview Heights, Illinois; sister, Amy (Doug) LeGrand of Belleville, Illinois; and many extended family, friends, and fellow officers.
