What Happened
Police Officer Paul Jurgens was killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks while attempting to rescue the victims trapped in the World Trade Center.
Officer Jurgens was assigned to the police academy, and is survived by his wife and three young children. Officer Jurgens' nephew, Senior Court Officer Thomas Jurgens, of the New York State Office of Court Administration, was also killed on 9/11 while responding to the scene.
