Space Shuttle Challenger Memorial

A slab of Vermont marble at Arlington carrying a bronze plaque - a seven-pointed star with Challenger in bas-relief at its centre, the seven faces set around it, each named with a role, a home state and a date of birth. High Flight is carved into the back of the marble, the poem President Reagan read to the country the night of the accident. Dedicated on 21 March 1987, fourteen months after.
