Paris

A concert hall, a stadium and the cafés of the eleventh arrondissement

Three teams acted within thirty-three minutes of each other: suicide bombers outside the Stade de France during a football international, gunmen on the terraces of cafés and restaurants in the tenth and eleventh arrondissements, and an attack on the Bataclan concert hall during a performance.

A hundred and thirty people were killed, ninety of them at the Bataclan, and four hundred and thirty hurt.

At the stadium a security guard turned a man away at the gate and the bomb went off outside rather than among eighty thousand people.

Ordinary Parisians opened their doors to strangers - the hashtag porte ouverte ran for hours. Taxi drivers stopped charging. Hundreds queued to give blood the next morning.

A man whose wife was killed at the Bataclan wrote an open letter that was read around the world: you will not have my hatred.

Ninety of them were at the Bataclan.
