Firefighter Michael Sofia, age 53, of the Fire Department City of New York - Engine 165, died on September 1, 2005, from illness related to response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. He was the beloved husband of Janet, cherished father of Mike, loving son of Sarah and the late Daniel, and the brother of Danny and Joey. He was also survived and loved by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
How they died
Firefighter of the Fire Department of the City of New York, who died of an illness from the rescue and recovery at the World Trade Center. The department added the name to its World Trade Center Memorial Wall at the ceremony of 08 September 2011. He died on 01 September 2005, aged 53.
