Lieutenant, United States Navy, a flight officer at the Navy Command Center, where he helped watch the operations of the fleet.
He rarely rested. By night he was at classes at Maryland and expected his MBA in December; in between he worked out with friends in the Pentagon gym or helped them with jobs at work or at home.
He grew up in Baton Rouge, one of three, and took his degree at Louisiana State in 1992. He went through naval flight training at Pensacola in 1993 and 1994 and did his MBA preparatory courses at West Florida while he was there. His family has a Navy tradition - a veteran of the Second World War, and a SEAL.
His father said he loved his job and he loved the military, and that he was just getting into a good part of his life - everything was going really well for him.
His wife said: we just keep saying, he was a good man, a good Navy man.
