Lieutenant Marci Simms died from illnesses caused by inhaling toxic materials while partaking in the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Lieutenant Simms served with the New York City Police Department for 17 years. She was assigned to the 107th Precinct.

You walked into it and it took years to finish the job.
Lieutenant Simms gave the New York City Police Department 17 years.
