Kris Bishundat

Information Technician Second Class, United States Navy. Born in Georgetown, Guyana, the eldest of three, and at home in Waldorf, Maryland from the age of two. Known to everybody as Romeo.

He finished at Thomas Stone High School in 1995 and enlisted the day before his eighteenth birthday. After boot camp and service school he served a year aboard the Yorktown, then transferred to the Shreveport, where his division officer said he quickly established himself as one of the finest sailors ever to walk her decks.

Aboard her he became the ship's webmaster and spent countless hours on distance learning and computer access for the crew. He reported to the Chief of Naval Operations Telecommunications Center at the Pentagon in May 2001 and had already qualified in three watch stations.

On the morning of the eleventh he had reported for work as ordered, pleased that the voice communications office had just moved into the newly renovated wing.

The Shreveport has since established the Kris Bishundat Learning Media Resource Center aboard her - nine terminals, teaching materials and a small library for seven hundred sailors and marines.

His father Bhola, his mother Basmattie, and his sisters Danita and Devita.
