Lieutenant Colonel, United States Army, military assistant to Lieutenant General Timothy Maude - who was killed in the same building the same morning.

He was commissioned into the Adjutant General's Corps at Northern Michigan University in December 1985 by his own father, Lieutenant Colonel Donald Taylor. He had scholarships for both ROTC and basketball and took a degree in management, and later a master's in national security and strategic studies at the Naval War College.

He was executive officer of the Army regional personnel centre at Nuremberg, a doctrine and curriculum developer at the Army personnel school at Fort Benjamin Harrison, and adjutant and personnel detachment commander of a special operations unit at Fort Bragg.

A poem of Edgar Guest's called Living hangs in his family's house. It was one of his favourites: the thing that we call living isn't gold or fame at all - it's fellowship and sunshine, and it's roses by the wall.

His wife Nancy and their sons Dean and Luke.
