Chief of Department Joseph Esposito died as a result of cancer that he developed following his assignment to the search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site following the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks.

Chief Esposito served with the New York City Police Department for 42 years and was its chief for 13 years.

You walked into it and it took years to finish the job.
